Tasmania

… so ends my visit to Tasmania, boarding the “Spirit of Tasmania” back to Melbourne tomorrow evening – overnight trip departing 19:30 and arriving in Port Melbourne 06:00 – 2 berth cabin – only $770 each way! – I’ll miss sleeping in TAS that night.

Enjoyed 4 weeks exploring areas around Launceston, Hobart and some of the western wilderness country. Stayed at Green’s Beach where Tiger snakes hang out,

then Beauty Point where I checked out the Harveydale rodeo

Stopped at Seven Mile Beach, near Hobart – a charming city, snuggled beside its harbour at the mouth of the Derwent River, with a mountain back-drop. Sir John Franklin governed Tasmania from here before his ill-fated attempt to find the North West Passage in Canada.

One night at Lake Burbury where little devils steal your flip-flops during the night, then on to Strahan
